19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has won 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional title, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
