Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
